Those two are typically the companions I try and pick up as quick as possible when I want to start fighting. Shi Jin is free to recruit and has a good trainer stat. Female slaves IMO (I could easily be in the minority here) become decent crossbow units (7/10 nothing amazing) while male slaves branch into either glory seeking men (which are mounted with blunt weapons and further spec into volunteers which are just GSMs with shields) or gladiators (which notably have spears and shields so they become a cheap shield wall.) I typically try and find a companion or two with trainer skills and keep an eye out for Alindel (3,800 aurums to recruit) he is THE medic and will keep you from having restock armies of dead units. You can buy slave units from each towns tavern ransom broker, they are never going to be amazing top tier units but for 30 aurums a pop they aren’t terrible. Sadly there isn't a surgery troop anymore, but you can level it yourself or use a companion for it still.ģ- you get free attribute points over time, and so do your companions, it's actually really nice considering how strong troops can be.Ĥ- marrying a lord is really really strong early, you can basically get very good troops for free, and you don't need to be a female player for that, there are female lords in this mod that you can marry as a male.ĥ- there are quite a few advanced quests in the game that can give you really cool things, so you can talk with weird people at castles or taverns, you can check the wiki if you are really curious, but I don't want to spoil too much, you should be able to come through them playing normally.Ħ-the game offers an option to customize your own troop tree which is really cool, you should check it up too. There is a wiki page of perisno about which special troops give which skills. There might be another one, but most others still have 10 as a cap.Ģ- Some troops can give you bonus to skills, you don't need to have pathfinding leveled at all if you have 40 Elintor crimson rangers for example, they give you max pathfinding, spotting and foraging.
